In a world filled with technological innovation and miracles, people have figured out ways to get everything from technology. There is now very little dependence on the human self or the conventional ways that once sustained us. Our old habits, as we now see, were not only wasteful and inefficient but also kept us from realizing out full potential in a world that lusts for potential.

Over the past couple of decades, advancements have really skyrocketed and we have seen a surge in the demand for technological devices and equipment. This has really made things easier for us. What once took us days or even hours, now takes us minutes or seconds. We have everything at our fingertips. But, not all technologies have the same implications as others and the great diversity means there is something for everyone out there.

Where do Vapes Stand?

Among many breathtaking technologies of the world lies the technology of vapes and e-cigarettes. These are electronic nicotine inhalation devices that are available in the market and as manufacturers claim (and researchers confirm) these devices provide a much safer mode of nicotine inhalation than conventional cigarettes.

This makes it a very effective alternative to the hazards of smoking that are extremely addictive. So, in a way this is a perfect substitute to cigarettes with the right nicotine feel and the safe solution that it guarantees. So, vapes have been the savior for millions of people around the world who have been wanting to get away from the curse of cigarette smoking.

Who Founded Vapes?

Surely people would want to know the motivation and story of the founder of the first vapes and e cigarette so here it is. The invention is attributed to two different people whose timelines lie around 40 years apart. In the 1960s, when the reports of cancer and cigarettes being linked started circulating, Herbert Gilbert got the idea of inventing a tobacco free cigarette with no smoke that would prevent the health concerns that cigarettes were beginning to raise.

Since the idea was one of a kind, Herbert Gilbert wanted to patent it and he went ahead and applied for one. After getting the patent though, Gilbert could not launch the design (according to unconfirmed reports) because of the huge influence of tobacco companies over potential investors.

The Interesting Story:

Many years later, in around 2001, Hon Lik, a pharmacist in China was determined to go through with this invention. The story about Hon Lik is that he was struggling with cigarettes. Lik would smoke around two to three packs per day and would have to use nicotine patches to keep sane. Moreover, Hon Lik’s father, who he held very dear, became a victim of lung cancer because of cigarette smoking and passed away.

This pushed Hon Lik to work even harder on a safe solution. Where Gilbert looked to produce a smoke and nicotine free design, Lik wanted to invent a technology that would grant people a safe nicotine inhalation device. Lik, who had some experience in the field of electronics and much to his name as a pharmacist, finally invented the first e cigarette.

Although the invention came in somewhere between 2001 and 2002, it was not available for sale up until 2003. Lik set up an entire company to produce e cigarettes and soon enough other manufacturers entered the field and started producing different e cigarettes, vapes and e liquids. Today, e cigarettes are a real technological phenomenon and one of the biggest and perhaps only competitors the tobacco and conventional cigarette companies have.
